Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that can remove fat deposits. The procedure can improve the shape and contour of the area being treated. The abdomen and flanks are the most common areas to be treated with liposuction, but other areas where fat deposits occur can be treated as well. Liposuction alone can remove excess fat deposits where the skin has good elasticity and is able to naturally conform to new body contours. In cases where skin elasticity is poor, a combination of liposuction and a surgical lift procedure may be recommended. Sometimes liposuction can be combined with other procedures such as a facelift or tummy tuck.

Dr. Silverman considers you a candidate for liposuction if:

  1. You have excess fat that has not responded to diet and exercise
  2. You do not have redundant skin from massive weight loss
  3. You are a healthy patient
  4. You have realistic goals

Contact New Beginnings Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery if you are interested in learning more about liposuction or any of our other body procedures.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure that can rejuvenate the appearance and shape of your abdomen. The procedure removes excess skin and fat and restores the rectus abdominus muscles to their natural midline position. This helps better contour the abdominal profile. The most common patient presentation is someone with an abdomen that protrudes and is loose and sagging usually as a result of pregnancy, aging, or genetics.

Dr. Silverman considers you a candidate for abdominoplasty if:

  1. You have excess or loose skin on the abdomen
  2. You have a diastasis recti (separation of rectus abdominus muscles in the midline – usually the result of pregnancy)
  3. You do not have significant fluctuations in weight
  4. You are a healthy patient
  5. You have realistic goals

Corset Body Lift

The corset body lift or corset trunkoplasty is a surgical procedure that can remove skin and fat redundancy from the anterior abdomen. This procedure provides great versatility in treating massive weight loss patients who not only have redundant skin of the abdomen but the back as well. The procedure incorporates incisions derived from the fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty and reverse abdominoplasty. Indirectly this affects the posterior waistline and results in a 360-degree improvement.

The corset body lift comprehensively addresses the contour of the entire abdomen and waistline. After weight reduction surgery or any substantial amount of weight loss, the skin and tissues often lack the elasticity to conform to the reduced body size. Surgical body contouring, such as a corset body lift, can improve the shape and appearance of the body.

Dr. Silverman considers you a candidate for a corset trunkoplasty if:

  1. You have had massive weight loss
  2. You are stable with weight loss for over three months
  3. You do not have a large hernia
  4. You have excess or loose skin on the abdomen and back
  5. You are a healthy patient
  6. You have realistic goals

Brachioplasty

An arm lift or brachioplasty is a surgical procedure that removes loose and hanging excess skin from the upper arm. The procedure can tighten and contour the upper arm.

Massive weight loss, excessive sun exposure, genetics, and the natural aging process can all contribute to the loss of skin elasticity. This can manifest itself as upper arm skin laxity. Exercise will not correct the appearance of sagging skin but this does not mean you should stop your workout routine.

Dr. Silverman considers you a candidate for a brachioplasty if:

  1. You have sagging upper arm skin
  2. You are physically healthy
  3. You are a massive weight loss patient who has stabilized their weight
  4. You have realistic goals

Thighplasty

A thighplasty is a surgical procedure that removes tissue and skin from the inner thigh to decrease the fullness between your thighs. This can improve the shape and appearance of your thighs. The result is smoother skin with better contour of your thighs.

Dr. Silverman considers you a candidate for a thighplasty if:

  1. You have excess or loose skin on the inner thigh
  2. You are self-conscious because of the appearance of your thighs
  3. You do not have significant fluctuations in weight
  4. You are a healthy patient
  5. You have realistic goals
Thighs
Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty

A labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that removes tissue and skin from the labia. The most common patient presentation is someone with pain during sexual intercourse or when wearing tight-fitting clothing.

Dr. Silverman considers you a candidate for a labiaplasty if:

  1. You have excess or loose skin of the labia
  2. You are self-conscious because of the appearance of your labia
  3. You have pain with intercourse or wearing clothing
  4. You are a healthy patient
  5. You have realistic goals
